
Eastern Province - Phase II - Water Transmission System
The scope of the Eastern Province – Phase 2 ~ Water Transmission System is to transport potable water produced at the New Marafiq Desalination Plant, located within the industrial city of Jubail, at the North-East coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to the cities of the Eastern Province viz. Safwa, Qatif, Sayhat & Dammam including the up-gradation of blending stations Ras Tanurah, Al Jubail, Dahran & Al Khobar. The project also includes the up-gradation of the existing Hofuf Water Transmission System, which supplies water to Abqaiq and Hofuf from Al Khobar desalination plant, from the present 20 MGD to 40 MGD.The design capacity is 500,000 cu.m/day. The total length of the pipeline is 133.77 km consisting of pipe diameters 76", 68", 64", 60", 36" & 24". One main pumping station PS1 will be located at the originating point of the pipeline i.e. near New Marafiq Desalination Plant. 12 nos. of steel tanks with a total capacity of 730,000 cu.m. will be constructed at PS1 & various blending stations, mentioned earlier, along with several support and ancillary building and facilities.
